FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 29, 2003
The Maryland District of the Eastern Surfing Association held it's first contest of the 2003 competition season on Sunday April 27, 2003. Approximately 50 surfers competed in fun 3 to 5 foot glassy surf under sunny skies at the Ocean City inlet. With the water temperature in the mid 40's and the air temperature near 70, competitors wore full wetsuits with boots and gloves to surf in the event. The next Eastern Surfing Association event will be the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Regional Surfing Championships to be held on May 9-11 in Dewey Beach, Delaware. More than 350 of the top surfers from Georgia through Delaware will be competing in this qualifying event for the East Coast Surfing Championships. Visit the Maryland ESA web-site for contest photos, event schedule and ESA news at www.marylandesa.org.
