October, 14 th , 2006 (Ocean City, MD) - In conjunction with K-Coast Surf Shop, Reef will be presenting the 8 th Annual K-Coast/Reef Surf Festival at 35 th Street's oceanfront in Ocean City, MD. The event will start at 8 AM on Saturday, October 14 th . This surf contest will be attracting some of the best talent from the Mid-Atlantic region. In the Open Shortboard division, contestants will be competing for a trip to Barbados to compete in the professional division of the Reef Bowl Invitational this November! There will also be an open division for girls, longboard and Groms 14 & Under. These divisions will also be competing for great prize packages which each include a new surfboard! The radio station X106.9 will be broadcasting live from the beach keeping people updated on what is happening and playing music for all to enjoy. Both K-Coast Surf Shop and Reef look to support the local communities they work and live in! This year all proceeds from the event will be donated to Ocean City's Career Firefighters & Paramedics Association!
Reef will have several of their athletes from the East Coast coming in for the event. Ross Stevens from Wrightsville Beach, NC will be in attendance, along with Brendan Petticrew from Virginia Beach, VA. Ross is known for his smooth style and carving maneuvers. Brendan has been featured countless times in all the surf magazines around the country. Brendan has traveled the world surfing contests and in search of perfect waves.

The Eastern Surfing Association (ESA), founded in 1967, a non-profit, IRS tax-exempt corporation, is the largest amateur surfing organization in the world with more than 7,000 members. It is dedicated to the sport of amateur surfing, to the operation of a program of amateur competition for surfers of all ages and abilities, and to the establishment and preservation of public access to a clean shoreline and ocean environment. The association's activities are organized in a total of twenty-six districts, which extend along nearly 2,000 miles of coastline, stretching from Maine through the Gulf Coast of Florida and Alabama and also around the Great Lakes.
